The
School of Medicine at Asrat Woldeyes Health Science Campus, Debre Berhan University (DBU), is a
center of academic excellence and a growing leader in medical education and
healthcare service in Ethiopia. Formally established in 2012, the school is committed to producing competent, ethical, and
socially responsible medical professionals who are capable of addressing
national and global health challenges.
The
school implements an innovative,
integrated, outcome-based curriculum that is community-oriented and aligned with national health priorities.
Our students engage in hands-on clinical training, community health activities,
and research from early in their education ensuring they graduate not only as
clinicians and researchers, but as leaders and change agents in the healthcare
system.
Since
its inception, the School of Medicine has graduated seven cohorts of Medical Doctors (MDs). Currently, it hosts over 400 undergraduate students enrolled
in:
v The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program
v The BSc in Anesthesia program
In
addition, the school offers a postgraduate
MSc program in Medical Physiology and is expanding its offerings to
include specialty and residency
training programs in collaboration with key stakeholders.
With
a strong network of affiliated
hospitals, simulation labs,
and dedicated faculty, the
school emphasizes quality education, research excellence, and impactful
community service. It maintains active partnerships with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Education (MOE), Education and Training Authority (ETA),
and international institutions.
Through
a continuous focus on academic quality, innovation, and equity, the School of

Medical Program Admission Criteria
· Cumulative
GPA (cGPA): 50% : from freshman course
· ESLCE
(National Exam): 20%
MSAT evaluates applicants’ knowledge and aptitude
in the following areas:
· Scholastic
Aptitude (Math & English): 40% of MSAT score
· Other
sections (Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Sociology, Ethics): 60% of
MSAT score
Final Score Formula:
Total Score = (cGPA 50%) + (ESLCE 20%) + (MSAT 30%) = 100%
