The School of Nursing and Midwifery Academic and
Service Directorate stands for excellence
in nursing and midwifery education, research, and clinical service.
Since launching its Comprehensive
Nursing Program in 2000 E.C. (2008/2009 G.C.), the School has
grown into one of Ethiopia’s leading centers for nursing and midwifery
education. Today, the School proudly offers one
PhD program in Midwifery and Women’s Health, four master’s programs in Adult Health Nursing, Pediatrics and Child
Health Nursing, Maternity and Reproductive Health Nursing, and Midwifery and
Women’s Health, and four
Bachelor of Science (BSc) programs in Comprehensive Nursing, Midwifery, Pediatrics
and Child Health Nursing, and Surgical Nursing.
The
Directorate is deeply committed to be a center of
excellence in nursing and midwifery education, clinical service, and research,
it strives to prepare professionals who advance health outcomes and promote
equity across all levels of the healthcare system.
The
Directorate operates under strong
academic and administrative leadership, ensuring efficiency,
accountability, and continuous quality improvement. Its structure includes a Director providing strategic oversight,
supported by four department heads
and eighteen desk heads. This
collaborative leadership sustains high standards in Academic activity , and clinical service delivery.
Currently,
the Directorate is pursuing
accreditation for its Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery programs
to strengthen academic quality and recognition. It is also preparing to launch a second PhD program in Nursing,
further expanding opportunities for advanced scholarship and leadership
development.
The School
takes pride in its exceptional
academic performance, achieving a 100% student pass rate on
both licensure and exit examinations,
reflecting the excellence of its teaching, mentorship, and practical training
programs.
Through innovation, dedication, and collaboration,

mission to shape the next generation of
nursing and midwifery leaders who will transform healthcare in Ethiopia and beyond.
