11/2025. Senior leaders of Debre Berhan University held discussions with
Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute on joint projects in health, agriculture and
other areas.
During
the discussion, the university's president, Asmar Melese (PhD), who delivered a
welcoming speech, said that the institute has a lot of experienced researchers
and that the process of working together in different projects as a university
will continue to be strengthened in the future. He said that since the
Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute has done a lot in research and has a better
laboratory, it would be good if Debre Berhan University researchers could be
trained in project writing in the future and if our university students could
also work together to gain good experience through internships. He added that
in the future, as the university, it would not be dependent , but would work
together in any situation, both financially and in ideas, and that they would
be on their side whenever they face a problem.
On the discussion , Amare Ayalew (Dr.),
Director of the Ankober Botanical Garden, presented a document on the previous works of the
Ankober Botanical Garden, what the design of the botanical garden looks like,
and its goals and objectives.
Ethiopian
biodiversity Institute researcher Yiglet Mebratu presented his project proposal
on the topic of collective planting cultivation of flowering medicinal plants
of Ethiopia for production premium and medicinal honey, and explained the main
objectives of the project, what its content requires, and what the professions
of the researchers are involved. After Presentations deep discussion were held
by the senior leaders & the participants.
