DBU held 4th Cultural Symposium

On the occasion, Dr Almaz Afera,DBU Vice President for Research and Community service made a welcoming speech. She said that Ethiopia has long history and it is rich in diversified culture and ethnicity. The country was the first in development and it has its own liturgy and drawings along with fascinating natural and historical heritages. Though it was one of the developed nations in the world in the earlier times, it declines. Therefore, now Higher Education institutes are responsible to reverse our country’s history. The goal of the symposium is to link the zone’s cultural and historical heritages and values to the industry and enhance the country’s renaissance. In addition, Ethiopia has its own literature in Africa, natural, historical and religious heritages which need to be preserved and transferred to the next generation. As a result, making such heritages to be tourist destination and make use of the community is vital to development. 

Dr.Dagnachew Assefa and Ato Andualem Abate/Yatsede lij/ have made  key note speeches on culture and indigenous performance /theatre/ in Ethiopia respectively. 
W/rit Hiwot Aberu,DBU Culture Center Directorate Director, Presented the Culture  Center’s 9 month performance report. On her report she noted that DBU culture center has made a significant improvement in organizing culture clubs and introducing the zone’s culture and the country’s nation and nationalities culture in different events.
In the two days symposium, 12 research papers presented and discussion was made on each research papers.The discussion was held with all participants and they forwarded useful points which will be considered in the future.Finally,Dr.Almaz Afera, DBU Research and Community Service Director,made a closing remark and thanked all the participants and researchers.
