Dean’s Message
Welcome to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences at Debre Berhan University.
The College is committed to contributing to Ethiopia’s sustainable development through practice-oriented teaching and learning, problem-solving research and active community engagement. In line with the University’s mission, we place strong emphasis on developing effective university–industry linkages and partnerships that translate knowledge into practical solutions for agricultural transformation and sustainable natural resource management.
Currently, the College offers six undergraduate programs: Animal Science, Plant Science, Agricultural Economics, Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Natural Resource Management. These programs are designed to produce skilled, innovative, and socially responsible graduates capable of addressing real-world challenges.
At the postgraduate level, we provide a wide range of Master’s degree programs. These include Soil Science, Crop Protection and Agronomy under Plant Science; Animal Production, Animal Nutrition, Dairy Science and Technology, and Veterinary Public Health under Animal Science; and several specialized areas under Natural Resource Management, namely Soil and Water Conservation, GIS and Remote Sensing, Climate Change, Hydrology, and Environmental Science, in addition, the college also offers MSc in Horticulture as well as MSc in Rural Transformation Management.
The College also offers PhD programs in Animal Production, Soil Science, and GIS and Remote Sensing, strengthening advanced research and innovation in priority areas of national and global importance.
The successful implementation of our academic, research, and outreach activities is supported by a dedicated workforce of over 140 academic and technical staff members, including highly qualified Master’s and PhD holders.
