About the Department

Welcome to Department of Biology, DBU

The Department of Biology has both academic and technical staff. These staff members include men and women with different levels of education and experience. Among the academic staff, there are 5 Associate Professors. There are also 6 Assistant Professors who have PhD degrees, and all of them are male. In addition, the department has 3 Assistant Professors with MSc degrees (2 males and 1 female). At the Lecturer level, there are 5 staff members, including 4 females and 1 male. The department also has 6 PhD students (2 females and 4 males) who are studying at different universities within the country. Among the technical staff, there is 1 female Chief Technical Assistant I and 3 Senior Technical Assistant I (2 males and 1 female). The department also has 1 female attendant.

The vision of the Biology Department is to become a leading centre of excellence in applied biology, research, and innovation. It aims to produce skilled graduates who can contribute to biodiversity management, natural resource protection, industrial development, and serve society.

The department has several important missions. These include providing high-quality education in applied biology by combining theory with practical skills. It also promotes research and innovation to solve local and global problems such as biodiversity loss, natural resource degradation, declining agricultural productivity, industrial challenges, and environmental issues. In general, the department prepares qualified professionals for careers in education, research, industry, and academic institutions. It also supports community service and technology transfer for sustainable development.
