Surveying Engineering

About the Department

§  What does Surveying Engineering, in general, talk about?

Surveying Engineering is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on the precise measurement, mapping, and management of spatial data related to both natural and built environments. It combines traditional surveying methods with advanced technologies such as GPS, LiDAR, photogrammetry, UAVs, and GIS to collect, process, and analyze geospatial information.

Surveying Engineering fundamentally applies mathematics (geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and least-squares adjustment), physics (principles of optics, mechanics, wave propagation, and gravitation), and geodesy/earth science (Earth’s shape, gravity field, and coordinate systems) to precisely measure, model, and represent positions, distances, angles, and elevations on Earth.

§  Department Establishment date

Surveying Engineering was established in 2018 with the objective of delivering high-quality education and training in the field of geospatial science and land surveying.
