As the youngest science-based engineering discipline, our department is integral to our institution’s mission, distinctively positioning Debre Berhan University as an “Applied Science University” in Ethiopian higher education. This focus ensures that our work transcends the classroom, addressing the technical and industrial challenges of our nation.  At DBU, Chemical Engineering combines physical and life sciences with applied mathematics and economics to transform raw materials into diverse value-added products. Our goal is to produce industry-ready graduates who possess both a solid scientific foundation and practical skills for optimization of production and ensuring sustainability.  Our graduates are equipped to drive innovation across key sectors, including: Agro-Processing, Food processing, Pharmaceuticals, Energy, Biofuels, Construction Materials, Environmental Engineering, Consumer chemicals and etc.
