The Federal Ministry of health of Ethiopia has been working towards standardization and institutionalization of In-Service Trainings (IST) at a national level through launching a Continuing Professional Development (CPD ) for Health professionals to maintain, update and enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitude to adequately deliver quality health care and linking the continuing education unit (CEU) with license renewal requirements. Debre Berhan University, Asrat Woldeyes Health Science Campus (DBU, AWHSC), is licensed CPD provider by EMWa and CPD accreditor by MOH in Ethiopia. Training has been planned for health care providers based on the need for the healthcare system. AWHSC has a dedicated staff and panel of experts in various disciplines who are Content expertise and instructional Designers.

CPD program Responsibilities

• Develop CPD guidelines for the campus
• Conduct Training need assessment and prioritized in collaboration with panel of expert
• Develop training Courses
• Allocate project resources
• Creates the CPD center program's annual plan and budget and carries it out.
• Check the CPD center license and renew it on time
• Assess ,support and accredited potential CPD providers
• Conduct CPD providers’ supervision
• Accredit different training Courses
• Produces fresh concepts for creating significant changes to the training center program in order to support its expansion.
• Builds relationships and alliances with other groups and partners to raise awareness of the training facility and promote it.
• Handling and managing workshop/training logistic issues, including training materials, equipment, anatomic models, etc.
• Finds and develops volunteer supporters to increase their participation in the training exercises.
• Assured that all trainings conducted at the training center are properly documented.
• Organize and report CPD activities to the relevant organizations.
• Control, receive report from the Accredited CPD providers
• Follow the license of the accreditor ,CPD provider and renew On time
• Implement e-learning systems,
• Ensure smooth operation of virtual events and webinars.
• Contribute in necessary collaborative efforts with other CPD providers and/or accreditors national training networks
• Conduct post training evaluations, competency assessment and follow ups to establish effectiveness of the training programs.
