Asrat Woldeyes Health Science Campus

The genesis of Asrat Woldeyes Health Science campus dates back to 2008 when the university started health science education in two programs, nursing and health officer under the health science college and in 2022 it adopted its present name. The campus is named with Ethiopia's most eminent surgeon and the first dean of Addis Ababa University, Medical faculty, Professor Asrat Woldeyes. Currently the campus provides ten Bachler’s programs, twelve master’s programs and one doctoral program that are open to both domestic and international applicants under different schools and departments. The teaching hospital that operates under the campus provides quality medical service to the surrounding community. We conduct high-quality class research in different subjects from basic science to translational research. The campus has 1134 undergraduates & 285 graduate students and more than 520 employees.

On August 3, 2026, a delegation from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) China and the China South-South Cooperation Programme conducted an official site visit to Debre Berhan University Asrat Woldeyes Health Science Campus to strengthen collaboration and explore opportunities for advancing maternal and neonatal health initiatives.
