Department Establishment

Logistics and Supply Chain Management Department was founded in 2016, the Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) Department at DBU offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The department focuses on producing skilled professionals who can tackle industry challenges. Its commitment to excellence is evident as all graduates successfully passed the national exit exams scheduled for January 2025, demonstrating the high quality of education.

The LSCM Department is dedicated to producing highly skilled professionals while fostering an entrepreneurial mind-set. The department aims to strengthen student employability, entrepreneurship, research excellence, and industry collaboration through a well-structured curriculum and strong industry partnerships.

The Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management was established to respond to the increasing demand for skilled professionals in logistics, procurement, transportation, and supply chain management within Ethiopia and beyond. PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME (PEO)

Program educational outcomes are broad statements that describe the expected achievements of graduates in their career, and also in particular, what the graduates are expected to perform and achieve during the first few years after graduation mostly 3-5 years. Therefore, the logistics and supply chain management graduates will achieve the following outcomes after they graduate (from 3 up to 5 years):-

Admission Requirements

The minimum admission requirements for the undergraduate regular program are as stated in the Senate legislation July 2021, Article 69. Hence, admission to the undergraduate programs of DBU shall be based on the completion of the preparatory and obtaining the necessary pass marks in the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Examination (EHEE) or equivalent academic achievements from foreign countries as well as the STU entrance examination to be set by the Ministry and/ or DBU.

Admission and Selection Criteria for the Bachelor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program

Admission to the Bachelor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) program at Debre Berhan University (DBU) is governed by the University's Senate Legislation (October/July 2021) and the admission policies established by the Ministry of Education (MoE). Applicants must satisfy the general admission requirements for undergraduate regular programs before they are considered for placement into the Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Admission Criteria

The minimum admission requirements are as follows.

Successful completion of the Ethiopian Preparatory School Program (Grade 12) or an equivalent secondary education recognized by the Ministry of Education. Achievement of the minimum qualifying score in the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Examination (EHEE) or any subsequent national university entrance examination prescribed by the Ministry of Education.

Applicants who completed their secondary education outside Ethiopia must present equivalent academic qualifications officially recognized by the Ministry of Education.

Applicants must satisfy any additional entrance examination or screening requirements established by the Ministry of Education and/or Debre Berhan University.

Admission is subject to compliance with all regulations stipulated in the Debre Berhan University Senate Legislation and directives issued by the Ministry of Education.

 Selection Criteria

Selection of students into the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program is conducted on a competitive basis. Eligible applicants are ranked according to their academic performance and available program capacity.

The selection process considers the following criteria:

1.      Academic Merit

Applicants are ranked primarily based on their performance in the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Examination (EHEE) or its equivalent national placement examination.

Students must meet or exceed the minimum admission score established by the Ministry of Education for the respective academic year.

2.      Program Preference

Students are considered for admission according to the order of their preferred fields of study indicated during the national placement process.

When the number of qualified applicants exceeds the available places, admission is granted to the highest-ranking candidates.

Applicants who are not admitted to their first-choice program may be considered for subsequent program choices based on merit and seat availability.

3.      Institutional and Ministry Requirements

The Department may apply additional program-specific requirements if approved by the University's Academic Program Committee (APC) and Senate.

Such requirements may include specific subject backgrounds or additional assessments where necessary.

4.      Affirmative Action

Debre Berhan University implements affirmative action policies for female students and other socially disadvantaged groups in accordance with national higher education policies and Senate legislation.

5.      Availability of Program Capacity

Admission is contingent upon the availability of seats within the Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management for the academic year.

6.       Admission Decision

Final admission into the Bachelor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management program is granted after: 

ü  Verification of academic credentials

ü  Fulfillment of all Ministry of Education admission requirements;

ü  Compliance with Debre Berhan University Senate legislation;

ü  Successful completion of any required university entrance or placement examinations; and

ü  Confirmation of placement by the Ministry of Education and/or Debre Berhan University Registrar.
