Campus has successfully conducted an External Curriculum Validation workshop
Debre
Berhan University Asrat Woldeyes Health Science Campus, Medical Laboratory
Sciences Academic and Clinical Service Directorate, has successfully conducted
an External Curriculum Validation workshop for PhD in Microbiology program, in
collaboration with the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI).
The
validation session was officially opened by Dr. Abera Lambebo, Academic and Clinical Service corporate
Director; emphasized the importance of strengthening Doctoral-level training
through collaboration and quality assurance.
The
curriculum was presented by Dr. Tizazu Zenebe, while internal evaluation was
carried out by Mr. Demiss Niguusie, providing institutional insight and
alignment.
The
curriculum evaluation was led by Senior medical microbiology external
evaluators Dr. Wondosen Tsegaye (SPHMMC) and Dr. Agumas Shibabawu(WU), ensuring
that the program meets national and international academic standards. Both
evaluators raise their concern, recommendation and the challenges that
candidate students face during PhD fellowship.
In
addition, Dr. Birhanu Seyoum (AHRI) presented key lessons learned from joint
PhD programs and highlighted emerging opportunities for collaboration and
capacity building in advanced microbiology training.
During
the session, Medical Laboratory Sciences Academics and Clinical services
Director Mr. Zenawork Sahile delivered an acknowledgment speech, appreciating the
contributions of staff, committee members, external evaluators and AHRI
collaborators for their active participation and support
The
session was formally closed by Dr. Tewodros Kifleyohanse( CED), outlined future
directions and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continuous
improvement and academic excellence. The event brought together key
stakeholders and marked an important step toward enhancing the quality,
relevance, and global competitiveness of the PhD in Microbiology program.
