Debre
Berhan University (DBU) and the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute
(EAII) have officially entered into a strategic partnership following the
signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the EAII headquarters.
The
agreement was signed by Dr. Asmare Melese, President of DBU, and Dr. Worku
Gachena, Director General of EAII, in a ceremony attended by high-ranking
officials from both institutions.
Dr.
Asmare Melese emphasized that as an applied science university, DBU is
committed to delivering a practical, hands-on education. He noted that the
university’s mission extends beyond the classroom, focusing on: Problem-solving
research, Innovation and entrepreneurship as well as Integrating real-world
applications into the curriculum.
Dr.
Worku Gachena expressed the Institute's enthusiasm for the collaboration,
stating that partnering with higher education institutions is vital for the
success of Ethiopia’s national digital strategy.
"EAII
is dedicated to working closely with DBU to address community challenges
through technology," Dr. Worku explained. "We will contribute by
sharing essential resources and engaging in joint research initiatives
specifically within the field of Artificial Intelligence."
This
partnership marks a significant step toward localizing AI solutions and
fostering a robust ecosystem for digital excellence in Ethiopia.
