Debre Berhane University Social Science & Humanity College conducts Curriculum Validation Workshop

During the opening remarks, Dr. Gebeyaw Sitotaw, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, stated that the primary objective of the workshop was to refine the program documents for these new second and third-degree (Masters and PhD) offerings. By presenting the proposals to experts and participants, the college aimed to gather valuable feedback and insights to further develop the curricula.
Dr. Gebeyaw emphasized that as a University of Applied Science, the institution focuses on programs that practically address community needs. He noted that the MA in Counseling Psychology and the MA in Folklore are essential for producing a skilled workforce capable of addressing mental health challenges and preserving local heritage and culture. Furthermore, he mentioned that the university is preparing to launch additional programs that are modern and demand-driven.
The following three program documents were presented during the forum: PhD in Teaching English as a Foreign Language – presented by Dr. Seyid Mohammed. MA in Folklore and Ethiopian Literature – presented by Dr. Yosef Getnet. MA in Counseling Psychology – presented by Dr. Getahun Sahle.
The workshop concluded with a question &answer session where presenters addressed comments and suggestions raised by the internal and external reviewers and participants.
