In his opening speech, Debre Berhan University President Dr. Asmare Melese welcomed the guests and noted that IGO (Institute of Global Outreach) has been an organization that has made a great contribution to students seeking financial assistance for 8 consecutive years so that they do not drop out of their studies. He also thanked Institute of Global Outreach for its comprehensive support so that the students can graduate happily and with good results in their studies and follow the good example of the organization and benefit of the society. He said that the university is happy to work with the organization in the future. He then presented the organization with a certificate of appreciation from the university president, Dr. Asmar Melese, for their contribution.

On the same day, Debre Brhan University International Relations& partnership Coordinator, Dr. Derb Alemu (PhD), presented the work done since the university was founded and the work being done, as well as the university's vision aspires to be one of nationally leading universities in practice- oriented teaching and research by 2030. He explained Debre Berhan University is an applied science university that will prepare knowledgeable, skilled and attitudinally matured graduates for the job market and entrepreneurship by providing practice-oriented education. And he described the thematic areas of research & the areas of Excellence of Debre Berhan University that are Technology and Engineering, Health Sciences, Highland Agricultural and Business& economics.
Miss Tsega Zerihun, the International Cooperation Coordinator of IGO (Institute of Global Outreach), said that the organization is working with Arsi, Odabultu and Debre Berhan University in Ethiopia. She told the reason that Velma Kirksey (Dr.) for coming from the US was to visit and understand the general situation of the students they support at all universities and to make other new students participate in the organization for the next 3 years. She also said that the organization has solved many problems and graduated from Debre Berhan University in the past 8 years, and She hopes to see new and existing students receive to support and succeed in their studies in the coming 3 years.
Regarding the bilateral agreement, the Director of IGO (Institute of Global Outreach), Dr. Velma Kirksey (Dr.), thanked Asmare Melse (Dr.) the President of Debre Berhan University & the Executive of the Women and Social Affairs Program for their contribution to the organization. And She said that the organization was established under the name of Simmon’s Family and that it is an organization with a big vision to provide economic support to orphans and children so that they can study, lift themselves out of poverty, and help others. She added that when her organization started working at Debre Berhan University, it started with only 25 students, but currently 100 students are benefiting, and she expressed her happiness to work as a partner with the university for the next 3 years.
The coordinator of the program, Debre Berhan University Women and Social Affairs Executive Mistress Addis Asfawosen, said that IGO (Institute of Global Outreach) has been providing support and supervision to 100 students with economic difficulties at the university, 60 female and 40 male.
